The Benefits of Cold Brew Coffee

 Cold brew coffee is something that is taking off in the coffee world within Australia, a refreshing cold drink that has a stronger caffeine content and less bitter in flavour. Cold brew relies on time to steep the coffee rather than hot water to draw out the flavour. Whilst most of the research to date has been conducted on the health benefits of hot coffee, cold brew is thought to also offer some similar health benefits.

Metabolism

Cold brew contains caffeine, which is known to increase your resting metabolic rate, which in turn increases how quickly your body can burn fat.

Mood Lifter

Caffeine consumption has been shown to enhance mood… especially among sleep deprived individuals haha! A review of studies of 370,000 people found that those who drank coffee had lower rates of depression.

Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease

 Cold brew coffee contains compounds that may reduce your risk of heart disease, whilst also increasing insulin sensitivity, stabilise blood sugar and lower blood pressure. Drinking 3-5 cups of coffee per day may lower your risk of heart disease by up to 15% and reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes compared to people who don’t drink coffee.

Easier on Your Stomach

A lot of people avoid hot coffee because it is an acidic beverage and can upset sensitive stomachs. Cold brew coffee is slightly less acidic than hot coffee but additionally contains compounds that may protect your stomach from this acidity.
